well, are you ready to serve?
want to start your own congregation, preform marriages and baptisms and be in total control of all shunning, marking, etc.,?
while all the time reaping the tax benefits?
Been ordained there for quite some time now. Would anyone like to be married by an ordained atheist?
i am shocked at the many accusations against jehovah's witnesses in this forum.. i know that i am young, but most of my family are jws and they are good people and i love them.
even my worldly family is very nice and i do not shun them.
the friends in the hall are very nice also.
Actually don't they turn on you if you brake Biblical laws?
You bring up a very important point... What exactly is "Biblical law"? Many different people will interpret the bible differently and come to totally different conclusions. Even in the Org for a given "offence", a person may be DF'ed in one congregation, yet in another no sanctions will be imposed. They are very inconsistent.
If a person votes, will they be DF'ed?
If a person donates blood, will they be DF'ed?
If a person watches an R rated movie, will they be DF'ed?
If a person goes to College, will they be DF'ed?
If a person works overtime instead of going out in the Field Service, will they be considered "bad association"?
If a person buys a two door car instead of a four door, will they be considered "bad association"?
Many JW's are obsessed with stupid little details. I've seen people given hell over stupid things like these. One congregation will DF a person, yet another will not.
One person will have his life ruined, another will not - all on the whim of a few elders in a JC.

Because, when you do something that breaks one of their rules, they turn on you. They are happy and loving right now, but if you do something they do not approve of... look out they become very fierce.
this got me to thinking.... now that most of us have left the wts, i notice some have taken other belief systems.
some have come to a peace with their own ideas.. my question is are you involved with another religion?
has it brought you more peace or happiness?
I'm with Francois, only I never *really* believed in the supernatural to begin with... I just played along to keep my friends and family happy. After awhile I could not take it anymore and left the org. I guess you could say that I was a "Closet Atheist" who kicked the door open, scared the hell out of everyone I knew.
The irony of it all is that the few people who knew me as a JW and still talk to me say they like me better now. They say that I am more peaceful, kind and look healthier.
i can think of 4 different kinds of orgasm.. 1. the religious orgasm.
oh my god oh god god oh god.. 2. the negative orgasm.
oh no, noo, no oh no.. 2. the positive orgasm.

coming from central pa - i get to see lots of quilts - and i have started to quilt myself - although i recieved lots of council about spending the long hours alone on a quilt ( the brother apparently never heard the words "quilting bee" ) i finally quit doing them for a while because of the pressure i was getting..... finnally when i realized that i needed to do some form of craft as a stress reducer ( from all the pressure from the borg) i told the elders where to go - and also said " i'd be happy to quit quilting - are you going to pay for the pyschiatri help and the meds they may prescribe??
this is therapy for me!!".
it shut him up for a bit.. .
I once got a "talking to" when several people in my old cong were "stumbled" over how I was taking an Astronomy class in high school.
The elders said: "Ohhhh! Your taking Astronomy, not Astrology!".
Buahaha!
i have never really shared my experience growing up as a jw, but feel it is time to share.
i am 26 years old and was raised as a jw from birth.
i left the jw when i was 14 by actions and 21 by a written letter, because i was baptised at the age of 11. .
